Exercises

Exercise 1: Quantify & Visualise Data

Fig 1.1. Exercise 1, Week 1 (8/2/2024)

Fig 1.2. Exercise 1 scanned version, Week 1 (8/2/2024)

For this exercise, I used 2 packs of M&M's. I separated them by colour and organized them according to size (to my best ability).

Exercise 2 : L.A.T.C.H

Fig 1.3. LATCH sketch, Week 2 (15/2/2024)

For this exercise I chose to make it about Stardew Valley. I figured it would be easy to talk about the fishing aspect since there are different fishing times, locations and more. More specifically, I chose the fish you could get in the Summer season - that would be my category section. Lastly, for hierarchy, I decided to include their difficulty too.

After listening to Mr Shamsul's advice, I am going to go through with the second sketch. He said that it is easier to see the information in that.

This was the first version of the infographic, but I found it to be very messy and restarted the whole thing

I forgot to screenshot any other progress TT

FLIP topics

FLIP 1 - Types of Infographics

Re-designing an infographic

Fig 2.2. Chosen bad infographic

Issues :
1. Unpleasant colour combo
2. There are just jpegs
3. The font changes in the title
4. The sunshine numbers is too packed((?)

Fig 2.3. Infographic redesign, Week 2 (13/2/2024)

This is the first redesign I did, and I was not really proud of it. I feel like it would have been better if I could make my own graphics instead of using the already-made ones.

Rating and Review of Canva :
Difficulty : 4.5*
Canva is a really straightforward tool. In my opinion, it is probably the easiest to use among other tools like Microsoft slides and others.

Usefulness : 4*
There are a bunch of templates, fonts and other graphics you could choose from. You could also have custom sizes and make presentations on it.

Graphic choices : 3.5*
The only complaint I have about this is that most templates and graphics require you to have Premium Canva, which you'd have to pay for. If you do use it, there would be an annoying watermark you cannot remove.
